Small Household 1-2 people
There are two softeners we recommend for a small household, The Envirosoft by Harvey Softeners is a clear winner for us, it is a Non electric block salt softener, made in England, and comes with a ten year parts Guarantee.
Even though its slightly more expensive to buy, it’s the lowest cost softener to run, and will be the overall lowest cost option over a period of 10 years when compared to any other softener.
Efficiency wise, it has an extremely low salt consumption of 1 block per person per month on average, and will only use 17ltrs of water during regeneration. It has an average life of 20 years based on the average water usage of a family of 4.
Aquadition Simplex, If you are on a strict budget to begin with, an electrically operated softener will be for you.
We have our own brand we make here at Aquadition, which runs on tablet or granular salt. It’s not as efficient as a bock salt softener, and will require an annual service.
Life expectancy of most electrically operated machines is around 8-10 years based on an average water usage for a family of 4.
